The national Emirati company 'Lumo', specializing in smart mobility and autonomous driving solutions, has launched a fleet of luxurious, self-driving robotaxis in Abu Dhabi in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and Momenta, a company specializing in AI technologies for autonomous driving. The new robotaxi fleet is based on Momenta's fourth-level ('L4') autonomous driving system, built on the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class model. It offers the first scalable model for a robotaxi service built on a platform for the mass production of luxury cars. Commercial operations for the fleet in Abu Dhabi are scheduled to begin next year, 2026, with plans to expand to additional international markets in subsequent phases.
